| To get started what we first need is a MP3 to OGG converter since most people have music as MP3s on their computers. There are plenty of programs that can do this. I didn't have one prior to this myself, I downloaded one called FreeRIP and it works fine. You can find FreeRIP at the following site if you're in need of a converter: http://www.freerip.com/
Please take note that the format we need, OGG, is also often referred to as Vorbis. So you may see things like "convert to Vorbis." That means we're getting an OGG like we need.
Some people have posted that you can simply rename an mp3 as an OGG and it will work automatically. I cannot say if this will work for everyone, but if you wish you may try it and skip the steps highlighted in blue.
And one last note... this guide will assume that you are using the FreeRIP program to do these conversions. If you have your own program, that is fine. The steps that involve FreeRIP will be highlighted in blue. When you reach these steps you'll have to improvise a bit since your program will likely not be designed the same as FreeRIP.
Without further ado, let's begin.
1.) First, we need to locate the folder where the Unnamedran online music can be found. To do so, first navigate to the location on your computer that you installed UN ran. Once there open the Sounds folder, and then the Bgm folder.
2.) You will now see a list of all the BGMs in UN ran. The game's coding refers to this folder each time you enter a zone with music and selects the appropriately titled song to play in the game. For example, when you start the game up the game checks for the file "intro.ogg" and plays it. What this means - and the means of our modifications - is that any OGG file in this folder with the exact name intro.ogg will be used as that music. For the purpose of this tutorial we will be editing this main theme music, but you can edit any of these music files to play whatever songs you would like.
3.) Select the song intro.ogg and remove it from this folder. You can choose to relocate it to some backup folder so you have it later if you want it, or the less recommended you can simply just delete it. Bottom line is, this folder needs to no longer contain a file named intro or intro.ogg so that we may put one in here later. (Note: some computers has an option that shows what your file is so it's either intro or intro.ogg)
4.) With that out of the way, we are ready to select our song to convert and move to the Bgm folder. Open the FreeRIP program. Before we get started, click on the wrench icon towards the top right. A config menu should open with tabs at the bottom. Go to the Output tab and set the Output Base Path to one you can find later.
5.) Now click on the tab at the top labelled View, and select Converter from the dropdown. Drag and drop whatever song you'd like to use as Ran Enterprises opening to the open area on the left side of the FreeRIP screen.
6.) Once the file is shown on the screen we're ready to rip it to OGG format. Select the tab at the top labelled Rip, and choose "Rip Selected Tracks to Vorbis" from the dropdown. Go and get a cookie while it rips the song for you. Once it is complete navigate to the folder you saved as the Output Base Path and you should find your MP3 song now in an OGG format. With this, we're almost done!
7.) Cut and paste your song into the UN ran folder. Once it is there rename it so that it is exactly, with capitals and underscores as they should be, intro and save the rename. Now, when you start up Ran Enterprise and you will no longer hear the original intro music, but the song you chose for it! You can now repeat these steps and replace any of the BGMs you want to. Customize your own Destiny(Power Up, Speed Up, Crazy Time and etc) music! Pick out a nice Market music to chill to! The possibilities are endless. =)
Just to close this off, be sure that for whatever songs you're replacing you get the file names to be exactly what the old songs were named. I hope this guide is helpful, and any questions about the process feel free to post here. Just remember I can only offer support on conversions using FreeRIP as I do not have other conversion software
--credits goes to Meddler (REO) p.s. dO this at your own risk. but just to be sure, make a back up file by copying the whole document and making another one. Just in case you failed to do it properly. tnx! | |
